Sue Corser-Jensen

What inspired you to work in the cannabis industry?
My mother died of brain cancer years ago. My family was told that cannabis could have improved her quality of life in her last days, and I regret that she did not get access to it for pain relief and relaxation. I don’t want any family or patient to go through what we did.

What is your favorite part of your job?
Being with a client from day one all the way through to their opening day ribbon cutting ceremony. Building successful cannabis businesses is my dream job!

Describe a really big accomplishment:
Giving birth to 3 children in 3.5 years and then raising them (along with my husband) to be wonderful adults.

What do you like best about working for Canna Advisors?
Company culture. We treat each other and our clients the way we want to be treated. Our clients trust us and respect us for the work we have done and are doing. This is not common in our industry and I love that I’ve found this here.

Where are you from and what brought you to Colorado?
Upstate New York. Rock climbing and college at the University of Colorado at Boulder got me out here!

Spare time activities?
I like to kayak, bicycle, hike, run, ski/snowshoe, travel, read, do yoga with friends, and grow heirloom tomatoes.

Success perspective:
Success in this world is not based on your career, or your financial worth; it’s based on how you loved and how you were loved. If we keep that in perspective, it’s easy to live the Golden Rule! We have the opportunity, and responsibility, to make this industry spectacular in every way.

Luke Wilson, Director of Field Operations

What inspired you to work in the cannabis industry?
Growing up I was a C student and struggled to focus in the classroom. I struggled to recall what I read and teachers led me to believe I wasn’t smart just because the classroom environment wasn’t conducive to my learning style. Doctors wanted to put me on ADD medication but my mother was against it. Once in college, I began to experiment with cannabis. It was during this time I finally read my first book cover-to-cover (yes, you read that right!). Once I realized that I could recall what I read, I felt like I’d been missing out, so bought a Kindle and read over 100 books in the next few years. I also learned that I was quite smarter than my teachers led me to believe, and graduated from Appalachian State with a 3.1 GPA.

Most interesting client/situation you’ve worked on?
Building Tilray in Canada. I walked away with 120 full-time employees. It was the first cGMP certified facility in North America for the manufacture of medical cannabis. Now, I look forward to taking that $30M education and putting it to good use for our clients at Canna Advisors.

What’s the best thing about working at Canna Advisors?
Passionate people. Great camaraderie.

What do you do every day, without fail?
Exercise and read.

Spare time activities?
Spending time with my wife and son, making art with my hands, mountain biking, climbing, and dirt biking.

Travel Tale:
About 12 years ago I participated in an expedition on New Zealand’s south island. We spent two weeks backpacking the Kahurangi National Forest and then met up with our river guides for a week-long descent down the Karamea River. We finished with a week of sea kayaking along the coast of Abel Tasman. This was one the most educational and noteworthy adventures I’ve ever taken.
