Raising the Bar: From Hemp Fields to Beer Taps
Canna Advisors serves on the New West Genetics board, a company striving to advance the genetics behind producing industrial hemp. Aside from optimizing the fiber, seed, oil, and cannabinoid content of hemp plants, New West is also working on a special project for a well known craft brewery to produce hemp with a powerful terpene profile. Terpenes are aromatic compounds that are found in all plants, but can be especially pungent in cannabis. In the near future, this majestic hemp plant could appear in Colorado’s craft brewing scene!

This summer, Canna Advisors co-founders Jay and Diane Czarkowski visited a promising company in northern Colorado, New West Genetics. New West is focused on creating stabilized genetics specialized for certain geographies and ecologies. Stable genetics means that the progeny of a plant will all have consistent phenotypes and express their genes in the same way.
